Water Quality Assessment Project

How healthy is our creek and what can be done to improve its quality?

How healthy is the creek? In the last project of the year, students set out to explore the health of local San Anselmo creek right outside of room 406. Using 9 different water quality tests, along with everything from the creek's discharge to benthic macro-invertebrates students determine the creek's quality. Throughout these tests, students will write an in depth, critical analysis of San Anselmo Creek to be sent to a variety of high profile environmental and government organization, giving a valuable data, analysis, and suggestions for solutions to these organizations. This includes data comparing San Anselmo Creek results to to the source water Cascade Canyon, results showing how much damage is done to the creek throughout its journey through Fairfax and San Anselmo to the San Francisco Bay.
